Gum Disease Treatment
The Monarch Dental hygiene team in Leamington is here to offer guidance and advice on ways you can improve your oral care skills at home in order to maintain the optimum level of health for your teeth and gums.
Sometimes you may find that you still require more aggressive gum therapy because of gum infection. If you have receding gums, bleeding gums, swollen gums, or sore gums, we recommend you visit us. We can help with your gum disease, especially if we can detect it early.
What should I do if I have sore gums or a gum infection?
If you have a gum infection, please come in for an appointment with our dentists. After a thorough periodontal screening and examination, we may suggest more aggressive therapies to help eliminate or reduce the amounts of bacterial poisons and plaque accumulating below the gum line.
How can we help your gum disease?
Keeping your gums healthy is important, as periodontitis can cause the loss of jawbone and teeth. Your oral health directly affects your general health. Gum disease can in turn worsen diabetes, arthritis, etc.
Treatment for gum disease is generally spread out over time to ensure the effectiveness of one procedure before the next one begins. Sometimes the services of a specialist, such as a Periodontist, are required.
Surgery may improve your prognosis by allowing for complete healing of the gum and bone, and reduced mobility of teeth.

From Our Dentists
A thorough at-home oral hygiene routine is just as important as visiting the dentist every 6 months. Brush your teeth twice daily, and floss at least once a day to keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy between dental appointments.
